Dancing Wiv Dizzee
27th August 2008
Dizzee Rascal made me cool…or at least made me feel like I was for one night.
Coming on late to a booing crowd, us Scots are not the most patient. He got the jumping Liquid Room back on side straight away simply by playing exactly what they wanted, a mix of old and new high energy beats whilst slowly stripping off clothes to reveal a rather steamy body!
He was constantly running from one side of the stage to the other singing to everyone. He played games and started chants, Dizzee honestly seemed to be having the time of his life on stage it was so fun to watch and pretend I could dance.
Everyone was trying to mimic Dizzee’s jack-in-the-box moves and although I looked quite ridiculous I really didn’t care; no one did, I was gettin’ ‘old skool’
Dizzee Rascal is a true character; he didn’t pretend to be anything he wasn’t, he was rapping about things he knew. It was like he was reading from a diary; he was just being himself which is why the audience connected with him so well.
His encore was the no1 hit ‘Dance Wiv Me’ for which he brought on Chrome who sings on the single with him. The crowd went absolutely mental everyone banging off each other getting on down.
Dizzee was so much and more than I expected he is truly a performer, the epitome of cool.
